Legal & Ethical Issues
I think the way things are right now are pretty good. Making things like journals, tv shows, movies and music all free would be a problem for the people who make these. They make these things to earn money, that is the goal. As you can see, right now we have people buying and generating revenue. The poor people or ones not interested in spending 12 dollars and 2 hours of their life on a movie they arent sure will be good try this the other way, torrenting which is illegal. It is somewhat a risk especially downloading movies. If something is good and people are looking for it, it will get on torrents.
The article "Open access research grows in popularity" talks about how research should be secret. I do not agree with this because the research could help other people understand, and possibly make the whole research even better, find a cure, or as little as help themselves with homeworks.The article "A Data Crusader, a Defendant and Now, a Cause" wanted stuff to be made free to use for the public and remove copyright. Depending on what is made free, it could help students or help criminals. People now days take free things and sell them for money.
