Cyber Bullying

Cyber bullying is just bullying someone over the internet or related technology. Bullying over the internet has caused many issues in society, first the person is already getting bullied at school or other places and then we have the internet on which websites like Facebook or apps are phones are being used to bully people. This is a major issue because it causes some people to commit suicide. In the article "Girls Suicide Points Rise in Apps Used by Cyber Bullies" it talks about how a girl named Rebecca was being cyber bullied with messages like "Go kill yourself" or "Why are you even alive?" which led to her finally deciding to actually commit suicide. She gave a final message, the last bye to her friends and jumped off of a cement plant.

Legal and Ethical Issues

Legal & Ethical Issues

I think the way things are right now are pretty good. Making things like journals, tv shows, movies and music all free would be a problem for the people who make these. They make these things to earn money, that is the goal. As you can see, right now we have people buying and generating revenue. The poor people or ones not interested in spending 12 dollars and 2 hours of their life on a movie they arent sure will be good try this the other way, torrenting which is illegal. It is somewhat a risk especially downloading movies. If something is good and people are looking for it, it will get on torrents.
The article "Open access research grows in popularity" talks about how research should be secret. I do not agree with this because the research could help other people understand, and possibly make the whole research even better, find a cure, or as little as help themselves with homeworks. The article "A Data Crusader, a Defendant and Now, a Cause" wanted stuff to be made free to use for the public and remove copyright. Depending on what is made free, it could help students or help criminals. People now days take free things and sell them for money.

Privacy and Security

The internet is the main thing now days. Everyone is on it, everyone uses it. Hackers know this and take advantage of the dumb people. They make fake ads, phishing emails, and even make you install malware on your PC. According to the article “Why Spyware Poses Multiple Threats to Security”, malware could just take all your information and provide it to the hacker, including every keystroke.

Well, now we have our own government doing that, in a worse way. They are worse than the usual cybercriminals because with the usual, at least you can remove malware, and hacks. The government is taking information not by hacking your computer, but by hacking your ISP’s internet feed. Every bit of data is saved on NSA servers. People don’t really care much and that is the problem. The government wants to fight cybercriminals when they are now exposed as the biggest ones, thanks to Edward Snowden. According to “NSA and FBI tapping into U.S. Internet companies servers” NSA is not only directly tapping its citizens and non-citizens all around the world but they are also tapping into ISP servers to get even more data. Why so much data? Well, think about it, it’s not for security, it is for controlling the masses. They fully controlled the “Old Media” which is the TV by buying all major channels, now we have the internet, literally taking over the old media.

I believe that they want to survey people from around the world and see what they are interested in and what they want. This is a big thing, because it lets them know what they need to do in future with the propaganda and whether it is working or not. All they need to do is run a query like “We should ban guns”. Now if that amount/day is growing, there success is growing, in banning guns and they will continue to do these mass shootings on innocent people until that is done. This is just my opinion but it sure make sense to me when you see these events happen all of the sudden, just when they want to ban guns. Guys with full body armor with professional weaponry going insane. This is what surveying the internet is about, they can check and stay up to date on how people are reacting, what they are searching, what they are eating, what is trending among what groups of people. Just a huge survey system, in the name of privacy and security. We can call this a conspiracy theory, but I think this really could at least be close to it.

Artificial Intelligence and Robotics

Artificial Intelligence and Robotics

I think soon, robots will be a common thing. There will be robots for assistance at home, work and what not.  These robots will also reduce jobs as companies want to not pay employees and make more money. A robot would be a one time payment and require little to no maintenance. They will also be efficient and precise with whatever the job is. There are machines that work similarly but robots could do multiple things, move around, and do a job a human would do.

In article "Shut your eyes and drive" it talks about automatic driven cars sensing their surroundings and avoiding collisions are already on the streets. It makes me wonder, is the AI system programmed well enough? what about in tough weather conditions like a rain storm at night where visibility could be very low, even with heat sensors. The article "Should we put robots on trial" talks about the self driving cars. What if one hits and runs over someone? Is it even programmed to stop after such incident? I think as these techs are growing and being used we will find out if they cause problems or solve them.

Only time will tell how it goes. It looks like they have been programmed well.

Social Media / Virtual World

I am on a lot of sites but the major ones are:

Facebook: I use Facebook so much, my phone service is almost useless. I use Facebook messaging to message friends instead of my phone.

YouTube: Used to be my number 1 site as I spent hours of video making and editing for my YouTube channel getting 4million+ views. After this semester started, my channel went from 30-50k views a day to only 4k views a day. It really sucks for me because I had a chance to get very popular with the gaming movies I make. I still could, maybe after this crazy hard semester.

I have twitter but I barely use it, I just tweet once in a while to advertise my own YouTube videos.

I also visit sites like Imgur and Reddit to see what’s funny on the internet for the day as every day there is so much new content. Reddit also seems to be a good place to get your REAL news unlike most corrupted media corps.

A virtual world is like a simulation of the real world. People can have discussion and chats and all kinds of interactions just like real life. They can represent themselves with avatars. There are groups of people, businesses, and companies using this way to do things and it could make things easier.

The article “Going to the virtual office in Second Life" talks about how IBM used the the virtual world for meeting, it is definitely something that has helped them. Using these virtual worlds companies save a lot of time and money and are able to communicate with coworkers throughout the world.

The article “When Writing Digitally, Nobody Knows you’re a Duck" the writer talks about how a computer user in the virtual environment can portray himself however he wishes. This gives equality for people with social or physical disabilities. I think this is very good as a lot of people do not talk as much in real but on computer they could.

I think virtual world is something to look forward to, it helps companies communicate in an easy and fast yet efficient way and also gives equality to all people including people with social and physical disabilities.

Creativity and Social Media

Here is a fun video I did in the summer.
I used a hacked version of video game called GTA 4

I crashed the car inside the game and put it over a real life video with me acting as if there was a real crash, in my backyard.

World Wide Web

I think the future of World Wide Web is looking good. As you can see more and more websites are becoming more interactive, adding more features, allowing a use to do much more than just browse. So many people also make it more helpful for others by creating DIY's and tutorials to do all kinds of things.

Whats more special is the cloud computing taking over soon. Internet speeds have risen enough to even play video games via the cloud. A cloud is basically a device/server that holds applications/games/documents which are access by users on the world wide web. According to the article "The Cloud" Challenges Amazon" The system isn't perfect but it will take some years and these systems will work perfect.

According to "Cloud Computing: As Software Migrates from local PC's to Distant Internet Servers..." the software and data from desktop is now being installed in the "Cloud". To me, this raises some a question in mind, can you trust these services with your data and software?
